TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

On behalf of Prince George’s Hospital Center, Department of Medicine, I would like to write a letter of recommendation for Dr. Pradeep Srivastava.  Dr. Srivastava has been trained in several super specialties at exceptional institutions of learning in the country.  He has the rare qualification of being board certified in three specialty boards - internal medicine, cardiology and interventional cardiology. He trained at George Washington University Medical Center, Washington, DC and Hahnemann University Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA.  He is one of the only two practicing cardiologists that does interventional cardiology and electrophysiology in the Washington, DC region and the only one in Prince George’s County.

As a clinician in Prince George’s Hospital Center he spearheaded the development of a revolutionary program, acute intervention, for treatment of patients with acute myocardial infarction in 1997.  Since the initiation of the program mortality from acute myocardial infarction at Prince George’s Hospital Center has improved.  He has volunteered as a cardiologist in the medical clinic to provide care for indigent patients after discharge from the hospital.  He has actively participated in the hospital’s program involving admission and treatment of patients without medical health care coverage.

As a practicing gastroenterologist in past and now as department of medicine chairman, I have had the privilege of having several common patients and have seen Dr. Srivastava’s interventional work for approximately the last 10 years.  I have found that Dr. Srivastava provides excellent quality of care.  His procedure success rate is very high and his complication rates are very low.  I respect his judgment in patient selection and his professional manner in discussing and sharing the information with the patient, family and his peers.  Dr. Srivastava’s privileges have never been suspended, revoked or modified.

He has received the Governor’s Citation for his efforts in taking care of a large volume of uninsured patients from Prince George’s County and a Citation for excellence in cardiology in the State of Maryland.

Prince George’s Hospital Center is involved in a very active residency program.  Dr. Srivastava has been cardiology faculty as well as an attending physician in this program for several years.  This is a voluntary and uncompensated teaching position.  He has helped residents graduate and pursue careers in cardiology.  He has helped them write research papers and clinically trained then in interventional cardiology.  He has been the recipient of many awards from residents for excellence in teaching.

On behalf of the medical staff I would like to express our support and give testimonials in regards to his efforts and his dedicated service in the field of medicine and cardiology in Prince George’s County.

Sincerely,

V. Prem Chandar, M.D.
Chairman, Department of Medicine
